What do you need to report?
Choose the correct jurisdiction and report incidents as soon as possible. Give the exact time and location, clear descriptions, plate numbers, and available photos or video.

KCMO 311
Report dumping, streetlights, potholes, property maintenance, and other city service issues. Do not use 311 for a crime in progress.
Kansas city services
WyCo 311
Report dumping, property maintenance, public works, and other Unified Government service issues. Do not use 311 for a crime in progress.
Why reporting matters
City departments and police use report data to identify patterns and decide where to direct staff and resources. Unreported crime, unsafe conditions, and blight may not appear in that data.
Report crimes to the police and city service issues to 311. Telling a neighbor or posting on social media does not replace an official report. Each report helps document the needs of the West Bottoms.
What to include
- Give the exact address or nearest intersection, date, and time.
- Describe what you saw, including damage, vehicle details, and plate numbers when available.
- For a police report, include available photos or video as the department directs. Images can help document damage and identify people or vehicles.
- For a 311 request, attach photos of the unsafe or blighted condition when the reporting tool allows it. Include a wide view to show the location and a close view of the problem.
Stay safe. Do not approach a suspect or enter an unsafe area to take photos. Do not delay a 911 call to gather evidence.
After you report
- 1. Save the report or tracking number.
- 2. Record the exact date, time, and location.
- 3. Preserve original photos and video.
- 4. Keep witness and vehicle details.
- 5. Follow up with the correct department.
